For 7 Quick Takes today, I want to tell you about some people who have been a blessing to me with this whole recuperation mess.
*1* My mom was amazing. She slept on that horrible fold out chair at Women & Infants with me for two nights to help me with Joshua so I could have him room in with me. Then she took care of both children the rest of the week while I could do little more than lay in bed. She also cooked and cleaned for us while she was here. I would have had a really hard time continuing to nurse Joshua without her help.
*2* Kristen took care of Katherine the Friday afternoon and night I was in the hospital. My mom dropped K off, and Kristen even had dinner for my mom and Matthew to take home. K slept over with Abigail, and Kristen took the girls to a playground the next morning till Matthew could get over there to pick K up after I got home from W & I.
*3* Amy took care of Katherine the next Friday after I had been up all night Thursday throwing up. Amy took K all day and overnight till Matthew picked her up the next day. I was non-functional as a mom, and I'm so glad K got to play with Aunt Amy and stay at Dwamma Miwwow's house.
*4* On Friday, Jenn brought over Saltines, cans of soup, and ginger ale. I had forgotten about the amazing comfort food power of Saltines. Karin later brought over homemade chicken soup, rolls, and brownies. Matthew and I were not up to eating much more than soup, and it was restorative and delicious. My former boss Rita made chicken soup and cornbread and brought that over for a couple days ago. My stomach still isn't back to normal, and the soup was just the thing. And yesterday, Nichole brought dinner, warmed it up, set the table, and then did the dishes! I've been too tired to cook, so I appreciate the gifts of food very much.
*5* Last Saturday, I was in charge of the decorations, games, and paper goods for Dan and Jenn's party. Not only was I unable to attend the party, I hadn't even been able to get to the store to buy the paper goods and decor. Sabrina and Cassie, my two co-hosts, graciously picked up the slack and took care of everything I was supposed to do, in addition to all their own responsibilities. I heard great things about how the party turned out!
*6* Saturday, after Matthew picked up Katherine and they ran errands, I asked K what she and Daddy had done. "We dot Daddy a new BwackBewwy betause his old one was bwoken. And we dot you some new FLOWERS! Daddy will go get them." He was disappointed she ruined his surprise, but we had a good laugh. He got me a lovely Get Well Soon arrangement.
*7* Two awesome ladies from church, Toni and Grace, both offered to watch Joshua and Katherine for a few hours this week to help me recover. I had several hours to relax both Wednesday and today, and I felt totally rejuvenated.
