| | Washington, D.C. -- Congresswoman Mary Jane* has confirmed that her Executive Scheduler, Hannah Barton, is in a relationship with "that boy who loaned her his iPod." Jane said that although the man in question was not her first choice for Barton -- Jane had previously expressed a preference for her friend Patrick for Barton -- she is happy to see Barton with "that Ranger boy."
Rumors began circling Capitol Hill in December of 2006 that Barton was seeing a man named Jameson. A source close to Jameson says that his relationship with Barton "never progressed past friendship, and they parted ways amicably."
In January 2007, stories surfaced that Barton was dating a man sometimes identified as "Bob." Stories were further fueled by Barton's staus change on Facebook on June 15 to "in a relationship with Zach Castle." Barton's press secretary, Rebecca Miller, has confirmed that "Bob," "that boy," and "Zach" are the same person, Army Second Lieutenant Zachariah Castle, and that indeed, he and Barton are in a "serious relationship."
According to Miller, Castle and Barton have known each other for over four years, since they walked down the aisle together as groomsman and bridesmaid at Miller's wedding. Their casual acquaintance blossomed into friendship over Martin Luther King, Jr., Weekend, Jan. 12-15, spent sightseeing together with a group of friends in Washington. The two corresponded regularly during Castle's months in Army Ranger school. When Barton and Miller attended Castle's graduation at Ft. Benning, Castle confided in Miller, who interestingly enough happens to be his sister, that he intended to pursue a relationship with Barton.
After talking with Barton's father, Castle traveled to Alexandria, Vir., and expressed in person his feelings for Barton. "I told her I liked her," Castle reportedly said, "and she said she liked me too. Then we smiled at each other for a long time."
"They officially started courting on June 10," Miller said. "Wait, don't use that word. Say 'serious relationship.' This is off the record, right? You're going to strike the word 'courting,' aren't you? HEY, COME BACK HERE WITH THAT TAPE RECORDER!"
Laura Stoneberg, Barton's housemate, was there to witness the couple's first weekend together, but she was too busy gushing about her own new relationship to supply details.
